I think we have all noticed over the years that manufactures often lay claim to the same titles of world’s fastest this or thinnest that. A while back Apple and Samsung both laid claim to the title of “world’s thinnest smartphone.” Samsung claimed that the Galaxy S II was the thinnest and Apple took offense and then the fight broke out.

The Advertising Standards Agency has now apparently measured the devices up and has claimed that Apple’s iPhone 4 is indeed the thinnest smartphone in all the land. Apple had complained that Samsung was measuring its device at its thinnest point, not at the thickest point of the tapered phone.
The measuring stick found that the Galaxy S II is 0.61mm thicker than the iPhone 4 at 9.91mm versus 9.3mm. Talk about splitting hairs. There will be no consequences over the tiff apparently.
