Finally, Mxit iPhone app released

The mobile instant messaging app for iPhone called MXit [iTunes link] was recently released and became the top free app on the South African iPhone store, the Startup Africa writes.

mxit-iphone-208x300Launched in 2003 and works on a stripped down version of the Jabber protocol, Mxit was one of the world’s first MIM clients.

According to their site:

MXit is a next generation Mobile Instant Messenger that connects you to a world of expression, using both instant messaging and social networking. A streamlined hybrid created for an evolving world.

It’s also told that the Mxit iPhone app can reduce the bandwidth usage, making it much cheaper for messaging and has been popular amongst teenagers.

“Just a few things for now:

    -Random crashes?

-Being able to move and delete contacts.

-”Not enough memory”? is this my fault?

-The keyboard keeps sliding up/down everytime I open a chat window. This is rather annoying.

-No predictive text. I know you guys are fixing this though.

-The way when you are chatting to someone that/those person/people go into the “Active chat” groups. This makes it feel rather cluttered and I find rather unnecessary. Can’t you just make it like normal mxit?

-When stars are applied as far as I’m aware it takes two to make the word or sentence bold right? on mxit iPhone it takes one and this is very annoying.

-Alerts for messages and people coming online. Or is this a problem only I am having?

-Also when sending a message I cringe that it is going to crash because it sort of freezes for a few milliseconds. Is there any way of making a little more fluid?

-Possibly turn off auto lock when on mxit? or is this something you guys can’t change?” quoted from a forum on the MXIT site which i think ppl should look at, please register and comment on the forum wiht us to resolve some of this issues, besides thay heres my view below

Hey there, i thought that since I’ve commented before the release of the product that I should comment after its release and what I found on the app wasnt what i imagened but still was useful and “Ok-ish”

To put my critisism shortly I have to comment on what Image123 said….I found that every last thing he said was by far correct and needs serious dealing with….

Suggestions from me are that the next update should allow things like predictive text on/off which is set in the options for the app, the new message notification is buggy when it shows the golden envelope at the top….E.g. if im typing a message to someone and i recieve anotha, the notification pops up but if i continue to send the message before clicking the notification it goes away which is rash.

I personally also found that the actual GUI (Graphical User Interface) was not to my standards….you can’t change names of ppl(or so i couldnt, maybe a bug), remove the irritating “ungrouped” Group with the Luci bot.
The feel and layout of the app for me personally wasnt that great as I thought it would be, I thought it would be similiar to the normal Java fone MXIT.

It would be good of it could show the number of ppl online in the group and highlight red or a given colour when someone goes online or offline etc…(like the origianl mxit). The Tabs feature on the oriaginal MXIT was the highligh of MXIT’s briliance being incorperated into both PC and Java Phone MXIT but it wasnt added in the iPhone version which is dissapointing and I look forward to in the future with 1 or 2 of the next future updates.

I’m not too sure if it was the high pressure to release the product or something else that made the product look rushed, untitdy, very basic and to a degree visually un-appealing. If pressure was the issue then i must admit i was part of the group of ppl earlier in the thread who wouldnt stop bout it….

Overall its usable but nothing more really and I really hope that it comes together soon with updates and fix’s …..Sorry for what may appear to be rude and un-interesting feedback but I truly think that its important and should be looked and discussed over….

Thanks alot guys for MXIT allround

    Hi,

Another thought was to make a plugin (like the one they created for some other application so you can log into mxit from another chat client) for IM+ messenger. IM+ is a instant messaging application for the iPhone that can support quite a lot of chat clients like MSN jabber AOL and much more. All Mxit needed to do was send them a plugin and that would have been it. Its not really that hard…

  3. i cant even get the download mxit link fro http://www.mxit.com/wap!!

    HELP!!!

  4. Thanks for the new things you have revealed in your writing. One thing I want to discuss is that FSBO human relationships are built eventually. By presenting yourself to the owners the first weekend their FSBO is definitely announced, ahead of masses start off calling on Thursday, you make a good association. By giving them resources, educational elements, free accounts, and forms, you become the ally. By subtracting a personal desire for them in addition to their situation, you generate a solid relationship that, most of the time, pays off once the owners opt with a real estate agent they know in addition to trust preferably you.
