Australian police slam Apple Maps, Apple multitouch patent may be invalid, Scout GPS app





Police in Australia are recommending that motorists stop using Apple Maps. According to Australian police officers and correct navigation data has left six people stranded after they mistakenly ended up inside of a national park. The police say if it was a cold 45-degree day people can actually die.

A patent Apple holds called the 949 multi-touch patent or more commonly known as the Steve Jobs patent has been used by Apple in patent cases around the world. Now we learned that the United States patent and trademark office has said tentatively that the patent is not valid. The first action has been issued against the patent with a second coming in about eight weeks.

A GPS navigation application has launched for the iPhone and other Apple gadgets called Scout GPS. The GPS application comes from a company called Telenav it costs $24.99 for a year subscription. The app can also be paid for monthly for $4.99 per month.
