Apple’s original patent on the Apple Phone

It looks like the iPhone isn’t Apple’s first attempt at creating a phone. The company filed a patent back in 1982 and listed on December 10, 1985. From what I can see of the drawings, this phone would have been hard to carry around, and looks absolutely nothing like any phones I’ve seen on the market. Did I mention that it looks like an apple?

I had a phone almost exactly like this, but it was in the shape of a Pac-Man. Everything else was the same — same keypad, same hinge, same speaker, same grille right over the slot where you’d write your phone number.

    sure you did, old man.

I really wonder if this phone would have sold well with the consumer…considering this was back in the early 80′s.

Two things you need to consider:

    1) It’s not a cell phone so it’s not ment to be carried around.
    2) There are a lot of stupid/creative designs of regular phones, including Pacman mentioned above. This is nothing special in that sense.
