People are always looking to save money when they can and saving cash is even more important in the current economic climate. AAA released its own iPhone app a while back and has announced that the app has now hit a milestone.

AAA reports that the app has now been downloaded over 500,000 times in only three months of availability. The free GPS-based app displays partners near the user’s locations that offer AAA discounts. The app works on the iPod touch when it has Wi-Fi as well.

AAA says that eth app is available on the App Store now and that anyone can download and use the app, but only AAA members can take advantage of the discounts. Non-members can apply for membership directly from the app.
