The Cupertino-based iPod-maker, Apple was granted United States Patent Application #20070048470, filed back on August 16, 2005, “Housing of an electronic device formed by doubleshot injection molding.”  I highly doubt Apple will sit back and give Microsoft a free pass on this – since their Zune casing use the same casing technique.

zune-dmp-lg1.jpgIf you recall the original iPod, with the clear over white, then later clear over black among other colors, Microsoft employed the same on the Zune.  The big difference is the “crappy” color scheme used by Microsoft.  Such colors like fecal brown over greenish puke in color, and other distasteful color schemes give the patent a bad name.

It’s time for Microsoft to pay up for the retroactive licensing of the Zune casing technique, where Apple could possibly walk away with millions of dollars.

Bad idea. Mircosoft and Apple have a very good thing going on with cross-licensing, its good for both the companies and the consumers.
