iTunes rumored to get $3.99 movie rentals

All signs are pointing to an announcement of iTunes movie rentals at Tuesday's Macworld Expo; that's the conclusion drawn after a Bloomberg report quoted "people familiar" with Apple's upcoming addition to the media download service.  Newcomers Warner Bros. and Fox will join existing studio partners Paramount, Walt Disney Co. and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. in making their films available for temporary download, priced at $3.99 for 24hrs.   continued »

NBC pulls shows from iTunes following contract breakdown

Following their decision not to renew their contract with Apple over disagreements regarding iTunes pricing, NBC removed all of its content - including that of its affiliates - from the online store over the weekend.  Citing Apple's refusal to consider even "modest" demands, and suggesting that the company was slashing prices on video in order to increase iPod sales, NBC's withdrawal means Apple has lost its largest partner for digital ... continued »

Another dumb lawsuit against Apple

So Frederick Black has formed another lawsuit against Apple. This one is regarding the notion that Apple has illegally tied the iPod to iTunes. Sure, you have to use iTunes to get your music onto your iPod/iPhone, but this case isn’t about that. iTunes DRM-free ‘Plus’ tracks reduced to $0.99

The eagle-eyed music lovers over at Ars Technica spotted some interesting fluctuations in iTunes pricing earlier this week, with some DRM-free "Plus" tracks being reduced to the same $0.99 as encrypted songs.  Now, Apple has officially announced that all iTunes Plus tracks will be priced this same amount, making good on Steve Jobs' pledge to do what he could to improve access to non-DRM music.   continued »

iTunes WiFi Music Store Starbucks button active in NYC and Seattle

So yesterday was the launch day of the new Starbucks and Apple corporate whoring deal. According to John Fischetti, Starbucks are “every block up in this bitch” in NYC so he had plenty of opportunity to give it a go. Starbucks has tracks to pass out

October 2nd will be the launch of the Starbucks and Apple Wi-Fi iTunes Store partnership deal. The program will roll out in New York (city? State?) and Seattle and Starbucks will be passing out Song of the Day cards as well as a couple other promotions.
