Looks like you're really going to want to disable Airplane mode before installing the iPhone OS 2.0.1 update. Failing to do so can result in a bricked phone. How do you know this has happened? You may see an error message like this:
“Information for activation cannot be obtained from the iPhone”
Or this:
“iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. An unknown error occurred (OxE80000001).”

One of people's biggest complaints about the iPhone last time around was the lack of flexibility when it came to SIM card use. You simply could not switch out the SIM card--even to a different AT&T one!

Windows users have practically been given the cold shoulder when it comes to Pwning their iPhone. The WinPwn project launched to try and help out, by porting the Pwnage tool to Windows, which up until now has been a Mac only affair. The beta for WinPwn launched last month, with a final version promised in the next few days.

All iPhones that were bricked after attempting a firmware upgrade from an unlocked iPhone can now get their iPhones back by upgrading to Apple's latest v1.1.3 firmware. Over at the Hackint0sh forums, a couple of people decided to unlock their iPhone, little did they know, opening their phone after completing the software, was not such a great idea. At least they now have a door stop, brick, frisbee, and tons of other useful tasks.

So to the simple-minded like myself, what does this mean? It means they are close to an unlock for 1.1.1.
They are also working towards some sort of a solution for the numerous bricks out there. We have already reported the fact that iPhoneSIMFree already has a solution, and that it already fixes your bricked products, so if you have the dough, I’d still recommend using their product since it seems ...

Somehow you are able to use your iPhone’s contact list to access the web. There are 9 steps all of which involve only the iPhone, no computer necessary, and then you are sort of able to surf the web with Safari and your selected WiFi network.
