Since Apple have shown that they can quietly unlock functionality under our very noses (how many were perturbed to see a "Send to Web Gallery" button appear when working with photos?) there must be some hoping and praying that the next covert unveiling is something every other smartphone user takes for granted: copy & paste.
An iPhone fan by the username of lonelysandwich (I always find a piece of cheese and crescent of crisps keeps my sandwiches from getting lonely on the plate) has put together this video of how copy & paste might work on the handset, using the magnifying loupe and MultiTouch's ability to recognise a second-finger tap.
Of course, there's no telling how Apple will manage the process themselves when they eventually add the feature, but this is a nicely constructed video and a reasonable solution.

dude, “my itablet loves you too” Thanks for the video.
Looks great, I hope this is something they would consider implementing, as copying and pasting is something sorely missing from the iPhone.
That was totally worth watching, just for the last line.
I think the method is too convoluted, though. I think I’d end up saying “screw it” and type in whatever I needed to get by.
Cool idea…LMFAO at the reworked iPhone demos
