Yesterday was the day that hoards of iPhone fans have been waiting for, the iPhone 4 hit Verizon. The phone has a bit of a different design and apparently doesn’t suffer from the antenna issue that the AT&T device has. All I can say is AT&T is damn lucky I just got my iPhone 4 and I am too cheap to pay early termination fees… for now.
A cool sticker for the back of the iPhone 4 has surfaced that makes it look like an old Polaroid instant camera. The sticker leaves the lens and flash uncovered and should keep scratches away.
Yantouch has unveiled a crazy looking iPhone dock that appears to be a concept device called the Black Diamond. The dock works with an app to bring colors from the screen of the iPhone into the room.
I don’t know how anyone can say there is no antenna issue until it is in the public’s hands. Also everyone thinks Verizon is the answer, but their network is slower and does not allow phone and data at the same time to me that is a huge loss to usability. But I hope many users got to Verizon as it will ease the load on the AT&T network.
Verizon is not the answer. They are upgrading their network to LTE but do they have a better, faster, failsafe for when the consumer travels outside of the LTE coverage area? NO. They are relying only on their old slllloooow cdma network to fall back on when LTE is not available. Plus, verizon has not, and has no plans so far that have been announced, to add a faster overlay of HSPA+ or something comperable to combat the snail speeds they offer without the presence of LTE coverage. That said, guess who does have dual technology? AT&T! AT&T has already launched a network upgrade to HSPA+ (3.5G) and is also working on partial LTE rollout by mid 2011(full network coverage by 2012). I’m so sick of hearing all this mumbo jumbo about 4-g shmore-g. all it means is “fourth generation network.” Neither t-mobile nor sprint have LTE, yet they boast about a 4g network leaving the majority of consumers confused and uneducated. The bottom line is, AT&T pioneered the “3g” verbiage and smartphone evolution when it launched the first iphone. Nobody remembers that, though. Everyone wants to complain that AT&T has service issues and blah blah blah… but no one thinks about the fact that AT&T has led the industry in network innovation and phone lineup since the launch of the iphone. If Verizon doesn’t beef up it’s network by the time their inferior iphone launches on their crappy old data network, they will have the same, if not worse problems than AT&T had when the iphone originally launched- clogged network, slow data speeds, and irate customers. I’m not saying that AT&T is the best at everything, it is well known that Verizon has great call reception due to the fact that they are using cell tower technology from 2002, but what I am saying is- I have been a customer with AT&T for 11 years and have had nothing but good customer service and better than average phone service. In the world of cell phones and phone service- no carrier will ever be perfect. I can’t wait for the Iphone to launch on Verizon’s network so that all of this propaganda about whose network is better can be put to rest. Enough is enough.

The reception problem on the IOS 4 was due to the SOFTWARE on the phone, not the carrier. If you have a problem- talk to apple.
