A while back there was a story going around about the number of apps in the Apple App Store being inflated by template-based apps that are the same except for different data. This app called iLike is a perfect example of template-based apps.

The application is a local concert app that is offered for 250 different artists. Each app shows the tour dates and concert times for the different artists and provides notifications when a local concert is announced.
The Local concerts app checks the music on the iPod and when a concert by one of the bands on the user’s iPod is scheduled, the user is notified. The Local concerts app is free, but the artist specific iLike apps sell for $1.99 each.
