Since YouTube got blocked at work, I’ve been getting more familiar with what Google Video is offering; to be honest, I prefer it. Sadly up until now there’s been no obvious way to enjoy Google Video content on your iPhone, but with a little lateral thinking (and a reasonable connection) there’s a workaround.

Basically, surf to a video you’d like to watch in mobile Safari, hit the “Download for Video iPod” button and it should start streaming to your iPhone. You’ll need a connection fast enough to gobble it up without stuttering (which likely means EDGE is a no-go) and there’s no way to add videos to your iPhone library as you can do with YouTube footage from the dedicated app, but it’s a neat way to occupy yourself when you ought to be working.

Oh man, what a GREAT tip. I can’t believe I never thought of that. Pretty much opens up all of the google videos to the iPhone. I wish YouTube had that as an option – would make life a hell of a lot easier…
