Google’s just-announced Latitude, a service that lets you see your friends on a map and get in touch, is “coming soon” for the iPhone and iPod touch. Vic Gundotra, vice-president of engineering with Google’s mobile team, expects an iPhone version of this service will follow “very soon.”
With this service, you can:
- See where your friends are and what they are up to.
- Quickly contact them with SMS, IM, or a phone call.
- Maintain complete control over your privacy.

Why wait for Google? There are other great location apps available, with far more features, better UI and more privacy. For example Loopt (for US only) and more recently also Pocket Life globally. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=319757953&mt=8
