xGPS rocks! The newest beta 1.2 of xGPS uses Google’s map data and adds it’s own navigation readout and a voice engine. This app has the ability to download map ahead of time and also supporting several external GPS modules so that the original iPhone and iPod Touch users can also enjoy this cool experience.

The voice navigation is great. The voice engine is pretty accurate and although it has some issues with a few words and abbreviations for the most part the voice directions are clear and easily understandable. It also will provide voice directions while music is playing though for me this feature needs to ability to mute the music while giving directions before it will be practical – I just couldn’t understand the directions while music was playing.
xGPS is now available in Cydia. Seems this application tempted us to have a jailbroken iPhone, right? :-)

Yes it does makes me want to jail break my phone. I’m tired of jail broken phones gets everything. I’m sure the people that are doing things legally will soon get a voice gps app. But at what cost. Let’s see how things go, if not good well I guess it’s time to jail break.
I’m installing this right away!
THanks for the info!
Am i the only one having the app crash on start up. And do we need anything external to use this app on the iphone 3G
When I go into Cydia and download the latest updates xGPS’s latest verion is 1.1.0-1 not 1.2 beta?……what do you other people get, 1.2?
What external gps are you using for the 1st gen iphone?
How do I download this app to iphone?
Chaula, xGPS is not available on App store. You can install it through Cydia which can only be installed on jail broken phones
Why can’t I find this in Cydia?
AWESOME… im gonna jailbreak my new iPhone 3G S tomorrow.
But i hav a question. My factory-installed Google maps app has a gps(althoguh not turn by turn) and it doesnt give real-time refresh rates. will this affect the functioning of my xGPS app?
What’s a ‘tape deck’ and how do I get one ?
What’s an iPhone. Are they good? I still use my sextant but it’s not so good when it’s cloudy. Will this help me?
