Kindle for iOS, New Zealand iPhone launch chaos, 14% of iPhone apps access contacts

The latest version of the Kindle app for the iPhone adds some new and interesting features for fans. The new version has iPad search, a dictionary, and fast switching. The dictionary has 250,000 words in it.

The iPhone 4 landed in New Zealand today and there have been some issues with the launch. Apparently, many folks stood in line all night to be told by workers that the iPhone 4 was not there though the device apparently came in later.

A study by security firm Lookout has found that 14% of free iPhone apps on the App Store are able to access the users contact list. What the apps are doing with the ability to access the iPhone contact list isn’t specified and the reason could be legitimate.
