  1. Tom says:

Useful for now until LATITUDE comes for Google Maps for iPhones then you don’t really need it as long as Google Maps is still sharing and you have a computer. It’ll also be free!

  2. Matt says:

if someone steals your iPhone or touch, why would they run that app?
I think this would work better when background processes become available and it can always be activated.

  3. Josh says:

Right Matt..I dunno how this is going to work on a non-jailbroken phone.

Also it’s not free. the first 6 months of tracking are free, then it’s a yearly fee.

  4. Craig says:

Apple needs to step up and create a built in feature that allows iPhone owners to track their lost or stolen phones. The technology to do this is certainly there, and with the millions of phones they are selling, I think they can afford the development of this function.

Where is the support? A third party solution??? Really???

  5. Budi Putra says:

Agree with Craig: come on, Apple. Do something on this!

  6. megan says:

like seriously, my itouch got stolen a few days ago, and i just have no idea what to do. they should have little trackers in the itouch/iphone themselves. it’s just a bunch of b.s.

  7. Mayz says:

Really worried on my stolen iphone, just yesterday.

  8. BZ says:

Apple isn’t going to help you find your lost iPhone, and the person who found your lost phone isn’t going to return it. They want you to buy another. Sure Apple could easily develop a solution, but where’s the profitability in that?

  9. Dean says:

Well if apple actually did something to track lost or stolen i phones, maybe that would keep me from buying an android or blackberry.

  10. victor says:

I just got my ipod touch stollen today and i know the faggot who stole it but i dont know where he lives so i will need to wait until monday at school to see if he comes with it unless if he sold it and if i found out that he did ill cut off his hands… literaly!
GOD IM SO FUKIN PISSED OFF BECAUSE I DOUGHT THAT HE WILL OPEN THAT STUPID IHOUND THING!!!!!!!!

  11. victor's pea brain says:

Victor is an asshole to use terms like faggot. He should spend a little more time studying too…then, I “doubt” he’d even be able to spell “dought??!!”….

  12. Bob says:

OMFG! My Ipod Touch was stolen Thursday and it is still missing I am going to kill the F****** loser who stole it!

  13. Danielle says:

Really guys, my Ipod Touch was stolen just last week and I’m 13 years old… but even if adults come up with this stuff, who’s going to be stupid enough to actually open that app… not me! I have a situation like victor’s… I new the guy and it makes me very sad to know that someone I know is stealing from me…but then again, since the school systems in America have become so lacking, the school is not going to do a damn thing about it. It’s etter if we just get up, recooperate our loses, and get on with our lives, and in some senses, and I’m entitled to my opinion, I wish that Apple and Ipods never existed, just because they have caused harm to this place, our pockets, and to those’ brains who decide they want them.

  14. garrett says:

I lost my ipod touch at an iskating rink. the kid who stole it moved! i cant believe it!

  15. Ty says:

I’ve now had TWO iPhones stolen from me and there is nothing Apple, AT&T, or I can do to recover it. They could easily just track it but they can’t legally. The least they could do is flag it so when it gets another account on it they’ll know it’s stolen. But you know why they won’t? Because AT&T wants to make more money, they don’t care if it’s stolen or not. Apple wants you to buy another iPhone. Why would they help their LOYAL customer retrieve their STOLEN phone when they can have another payday and AT&T can get you to sign another 2 YEAR CONTRACT. Which I just had to do again! On top of that they made me pay $500 DOLLARS for my REPLACEMENT phone…. WITH ANOTHER 2 YEAR CONTRACT. AT&T and Apple have shown their true colors. All they want is your money and the more they can get the better. They have no morals or consciences. They are pretty much just telling people, “HEY STEAL AN iPHONE CAUSE YOU WON’T GET COUGHT AND WE’LL EVEN HELP YOU GET IT SET UP WITH SERVICE” You all make me SICK! What ever happened to customer appreciation!?!?!?!

  16. JIm says:

Yes Apple and At&T are SCUM. The same thing happened to me and they just putting me against each other.

    SCUM OF THE EARTH

  17. Britt says:

I stayed at a hotel last week and the maid stole my ipod touch out of our room but the hotel won’t do a damn thing about it!!!!!!!!!!! i’m so pissed of!!!!!!!!!

  18. Darryl says:

IPhone stolen from school today. Last IPhone I buy as AT&T and Apple could, but won’t, do anything about it. They know how to stop these thefts by making it literally impossible to reactivate. I will never buy another one.

  19. Responsible says:

You can all protect yourself from theft if you stop leaving your iphones and ipod touches around for people to rip them off. They should be ON your person at all times. If you don’t have pockets, buy pants that have them. It’s cheaper than a new iphone…. trust me. If you have to put it down, ask a trusted friend to hold on to it for a few….You don’t put them down in an ice skating rink, and you don’t leave them in a hotel room for the maid to steal, and you don’t leave them in your car or in your book bag. Is this just not common sense people????

  20. charis says:

Sooo if i was to steal one, it could never be traced?

  21. iphone says:

well i will be mad if someone stole my iphone, but i have been doing some research about stolen iphone, most carrier will disable the sim card, but you mostlikely never see the iphone again.
but with a program like this isnt a privacy law issue here?
because i could sell my iphone and few weeks later i will be able to track the person?
i think that is why AT&T cant do anything for tracking iphone, or if they do, then AT&T and any other carrier could track us now
right? or big brother is watching where are you!!!!

  22. Disabler says:

So my iphone got stolen from my friend’s bag the other day when we were swimming.
and i disabled it a few hours later.
i’m assuming i won’t be able to get it back ever now?
andd, this will sound like a dumb question, but since i don’t try and take out sim cards every day.
for the iphone, if i do disable it, will they still be able to listen to music and play with apps and such?
or just not be allowed to text and make calls and wifi.

    p.s. i’m only 14 i don’t anything about these things.

  23. Liz says:

My phone got stolen. Apple and AT&T suck. Like they can’t afford to help their loyal customers.

  24. anh says:

i just lost my 16gb iphone. I left in the car and forgot to lock the car door. Whoever stole my phone even left the iphone cover for me. Stupid. I feel really sad now. Want to kill that person.

  25. LRC says:

My iphone was stolen out of my car on 8/11/2009 – I had just purchased it on July 2nd… for $99.00 upgrade cost. I notified ATT was told insurance doesn’t cover the iphone for lost/stolen and I asked if I could just purchase another at the price that I paid for the other one… Answer:NO – I would have to pay full price for a new one. I was also told if someone could remove the component with the imei number, then the phone could be reused. ATT and Apple are greedy people. If ATT and Apple can technically restrict the iphone to one phone service carrier, then they are also able to restrict the use of the iphone to one person… and not allow stolen iphones to be ever used again, except by the original purchaser. They will not, however, for this is more business for themselves. They told me that I could go on EBAY or Craigslist to find a bargain… Are they kiddin! Those sources are probably havens for “stolen iphones for sale”. I was again disappointed at the state of humanity and the lack thereof.

  26. rbtamms says:

I lost my 16gb iphone 3G yesterday. I put it behind my pocket to release the setbelt of my daughter & didn’t noticed it fell off. I parked my car just across my house in an intersection & once I got inside my house, I grab my pocket & it wasn’t there. I immediately went back to the car & it’s already gone & I didn’t see anyone leaving the scene. It only took me 2 minutes since I left my car & my husband try to call my iphone & it’s already off. I’m just wondering how quickly can you turn off the iphone? I mean, how can you quickly dissable the iphone?

I noticed a young skinny chinese girl across the corner & she is the only one in the area waiting for a bus. I’m too reluctant to ask her because if she dissabled my iphone in less than a minute, then I’m pretty sure she has no intention in returning it. She saw me searching my entire car & if she found it outside the car, then she can sense that I’m looking for it. For sure, if I ask here…she will deny it & I have no right to search her bag because I have no proof that she took it besides she’s the only one around the area after 2 minutes leaving my car & noticed I’ve lost it. I just couldn’t believe how quickly she dissabled my iphone.

One more thing, I have all my important informations like bank accounts etc in my iphone but I have a security password on my iphone. Do any of you think that if there’s a way they can retrieve all of my informations?

  27. Pissed says:

Just lost mine as well and this is fucking ridiculous. They could easily help track down these phones and in fact they do all the time for law enforcement or govt purposes. I am sick and fucking tired of big companies getting away with screwing over the masses for profit. Its bad enough that we have to deal with exclusivity agreements, ridiculous prices (phones and service) and contracts just to have service. It seems that greed is all that runs most business these days. I hope apple, att, the people who own/run them, and any company that operates similarly for that matter, burn in hell.

  28. Jessica says:

OK… Some THEIVING JERK broke into the business my family owns and stole my iphone I addidently left there. This is B.S. This is the 5th break in attempt, 2 of which were sucessful break in where product was stolen including this one. Does anyone appreciate local small business?? Most of you reading this would think oh this is in a big city. NO! It is in a town of less than 20,000 people and 5 break ins! Back to my cell phone. I think it is ridiculous; if your phone is stolen and a police report is made, then ATT should provide appropriate information for the recovery of a stolen product. The technology is there for them to provide such information.
    ARGHH! I hate theives.

  29. Irate says:

I am helping my little brother try and locate his iphone that was stolen yeaterday at his school. It was in a locker that had a padlock on it! This happened in a gym locker room. I am told there is security cameras everywhere but suprize the school will not do anything to help locate it. A police report was filed and we have a very good idea of who did it but once again we get no help from the school. Honestly I do not understand how some one can be so white trash and pathetic that they need to steal other peoples things. We used the family map from att and located where the phone was to almost the exact address but the police said forget it. I can tell you now I will never own anything that has the name apple on it. They want $400 to replace it. Also I am going to cancel my att service beacuse they will not do anything to help the situation too. In closing I hope to hell that this little teenage bastard has enough sense to not come with 50 feet of me for this world would be less one piece of shit human being!

  30. APPLE SUCKSSSSS!! says:

I LOST MY IPHONE YESTERDAY.. N I TOTALLY AGREE WITH EVERYONE ON THAT ITS REALLY STUPID THAT IT CANT BE TRACKED DOWN WITHOUT THE APPLICATION BEING IN THE PHONE….ARGHHHH…. F%&*$KING HELL….APPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT WE USE OUR EMAIL ACCTS AND FACEBOOK ALSO PERSONAL DETAILS ONLY IN IPHONE… THEY SHOULD KNOW THAT N HELP US…. SO STUPID…

  31. Dan says:

My iPhone was stolen last night at a bar. It sucks that nothing can be done about it. Here is what I did do though:

Change all of your passwords online for anything connected with an app (email accounts, Facebook, bank account, etc.)

Disable your phone through the ATT website. There is a link and it takes like 10 seconds. Once you do this though, they can go and activate it and begin using it.

    OR

Leave your service on for a bit, and track any text messages and calls they make. Then you can call those numbers and try to get an idea of who has your phone and where they are.

Just some tips. It sucks, and its a shame Apple and ATT won’t do anything about it.

  32. 119z says:

You people are hysterical. “you should make it impossible to reactivate” why? Because you lost yours? Because you were not responsible enough to just put it in your pocket? What about us people who have had an iPhone since it’s launch and upgraded every time a new model came out? Should we not be able to resell or give our old phones to others because we don’t need them anymore? How selfish is that? You screwed up. Not us!

And to all of you who want to kill the person who now have their phone, what’s worse? A thief or a murderer? You are a pathetic human if you would take someones life over a $100-$300 phone.

  33. rick says:

reactivate if sold yes, if reported missing or stolen NO

  34. Al says:

I’m at work and just had my iPhone stolen a few hours ago. Policy is that we keep our phones/belongings in a drawer beneath the register. I work at a kiosk, and as I was helping another customer, two guys apparently came and stole it right out of the drawer as I was helping another customer.

AT&T/Apple’s policy when it comes to these damn things is absolutely despicable. Not just with the possibility that it was lost or stolen, but with the warranties as well. I mean, they’ll refuse to even see it or listen if the water damage sensors are activated, and those are so sensitive that as much as a hot shower or humid day will render your phone untouchable.
They know these are hot items and will not miss the chance to milk as much money out of their loyal customers as possible.

Good luck to the pathetic assholes who stole it in trying to resell or reactivate it, as apparently it is water damaged. :)

  35. Sava says:

My son got his ipod stolen at school … from his bag with cell phone his Ipod touch was purchased with his own money and looks after it.. the only comment I would like too address its wasnt his fault that it stolen I read everyone saying don t bring it too school..I understand but its not his fault it got taken from his bag.
We are 99 % sure who did it
    We called the school
    We spoke to the teacher
    We called his parents
I talked to him.. caught him in a lie
Called police to put a report on it
    Every one co-operated

EXCEPT Apple… when we bought it .. it was stated if ever stolen to call them with serial number etc..they said it was a sales error mistake sayong this and they cant do nothing about it..sad…never trust an Apple product
I feel sorry for this kid going back to Orchard Park High School

  36. Elia says:

I mean, who is gonna look for a solution to the lost or stolen iphone when “they” have insurance?? no one, so I`m guessing that everyone that comes to the point of googleing something like this obviously doesn`t have insurance and neither one of this tracking applications, isn`t it??? so what`s the f***ing point to tell me: ooohh there is a very cool application that tracks your iphone if you installed it before you got it stolen!! who cares!!! I obviously don`t have with me anymore, Mr. Smart!! but probably who put up this genius website earns by clicks, so it is definately a clever head….
