Call me nuts, or call me crazy or whatever, but the moment the doors at the Apple Store on 5th Ave, in Manhattan reopened for business, the energy and excitement surrounding the iPhone launch was unreal. I know many of you weren't able to attend, lucky for you, I was there to capture this historical event.

tnkgrl, feisty femme-fatale of all that's mobile, managed to restrain herself from immediately registering her new iPhone in order to do a little testing with some other SIM cards. She found that while, pre-activation, both the supplied and an existing AT&T SIM she had were accepted (and a T-Mobile SIM unsurprisingly rejected), following activation only the supplied new-contract SIM was allowed.

ifixit tried to open up their iPhone delicately so they could pore through its entrails; PC World on the other hand seem to have modelled their playtime on the Inquisition, putting a poor, innocent Apple cellphone through a series of stress-test trials. They even caught the abuse on video, including determined scratching at the display with metal and dropping it multiple times onto concrete.

Underneath our clothes we're all naked, but underneath the iPhone's classy casing are a number of intriguing circuitboards and components. ifixit.com seem slightly more excited about opening up their iPhone than they are about, well, making calls on it, and so they've been quick to undo the sixteen screws holding it all together and have a good poke about inside.

After coming home from AT&T store, I did an unboxing video of the iPhone. After that I plug it into the docking and connect it to iTunes. Activated my iPhone with AT&T and start calling people letting them know I got an iPhone.
I keep the phone plugged and sync my emails from a Macbook Pro. I went to the kitchen to make some snacks for movie night (it’s Friday!) and ...

Our media whore has been hard at work today, but he's finally managed to find some time to shoot a brief video walkthrough of his iPhone. He was too excited to bother waiting to get back for a formal unboxing. If you were wondering, Vincent decided to unbox his right outside the store for the entire crowd to watch.
