iPhone EDGE vs Nokia E61i 3G Shootout

While the iPhone's EDGE capabilities appear to be slow, it's rendering of web pages makes up for difference in speed between EDGE and 3G. Here is a video of the iPhone on EDGE, and a Nokia E61i on 3G. You can clearly see that both of their loading bars end at around the same time, with the iPhone finishing before the E61i loading eBay. Analyst predicts Apple & Nokia patent disputes

A London-based analyst is predicting tension between the Apple and Nokia camps come 2008, as the Finnish company develops the latest, touchscreen-focused upgrade to its S60 cellphone OS.  Already seen in promotional films, the Nokia Touch appears to use a capacitative touch-sensitive panel called Haptikos that adds haptic feedback to an OS that appears - in pre-release videos at least - to borrow heavily from the iPhone's interface.  Richard Windsor, an ... continued »

Video suggests Nokia iPhone-rival

Chinese iPod/8800 mashup shows what the iPhone could’ve been

Looking more than a little like a crap fanart concept mockup of what the iPhone could've looked like, this beautiful Chinese homage to the iPod and Nokia's 8800 will no doubt single you out in Beijing as an individual of wealth and taste.  Not only do you get a pretty standard dual-band cellphone with jaunty iPod-esque music controls, but a 2.2-inch QVGA touchscreen as well!   continued »

Nokia to follow iPhone sensor touch screen bandwagon

There is no doubt in my mind that Apple is leading the biggest change in sensor touch screen technology with the introduction of the iPhone! You may have read my previous report of the Synaptics Onyx Concept phone, which features many of the forthcoming touch screen technology.
