Apple has made the 4th beta of it's iPhone SDK (Software Developers Kit) available to iPhone developers. The new version of the iPhone SDK has support for OpenGL ES for the iPhone emulator that is included in the SDK. Before the support for this came out, to truly and reliably test iPhone applications, the developers would have to load the application onto the iPhone.

Infineon's S-GOLD3 has seemingly been confirmed as the chipset to be used in Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone, as predicted from examination of the recently released iPhone SDK Beta 3. According to DigiTimes, Chinese paper Economic Daily News has confirmed that United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) have been selected as the foundry that will produce the chip on Infineon's behalf. The chip, PMB8878, will be manufactured on UMC's 65nm line.

Developers NetBlender have just announced their BD Touch software for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Using the official Apple SDK, they've come up with an app that links your handset, via WiFi, to your Blu-Ray player; not only can you control it remotely, you could use it to transfer content from the player to your iPhone, direct from the Blu-Ray menu structure. The new build of iPhone OS 2.0 now features contact search. Alleluia! I have over 1,500 contacts I’ve been collecting over the past ten years. After flicking through the list a few dozen times does get old. Anyways, the search function is also included with the revised iPhone Simulator that comes with the SDK build 9M2158a, beta 3.

iPhone SDK build 9M2158a, beta 3 is now available. iPhone Atlas got word from developers that iPhones legally running the pre-release 2.0 beta software, build 5A225c, were remotely disabled by Apple and can be restored to full functionality using the new build of the device-installable OS labeled 5A240d. iPhones unlocked and “pwned” are not affected by the Apple’s remote lock down.
