So, in the no big surprise there category, iPhoneSIMFree, the people who make money from unlocking phones, have figured out a way to unlock version 1.1.1 phones. What was nice about the iPhoneSIMFree unlock when apple release 1.1.1 was that those phones weren’t bricked, just re-locked back to AT&T.

iPhone 1.1.1 Hacking update
Yesterday we got the preliminary Jailbreak, today we have 3rd party native apps running smoothly. So far the Colloquy IRC client and the NES emulator work.
They also got access to the Sprinboar, which means you don’t have to use the command line to launch apps. You can apparently add up to 15 apps to the Springboard.

Class action suit against Apple a possibility
Yeah, I know this won’t be the first, it won’t even be the first pertaining to the iPhone, but they are trying to get a class action suit together over the new firmware and the lack of warranty service. DevTeam: Apple didn’t have to brick unlocked iPhones
Little comfort to those who face bricking their unlocked iPhones or languishing on old firmware forever, but the iPhone DevTeam have been pretty unequivocal at accusing Apple of taking the, let's say, AT&T pleasing option when it comes to constructing their upgrade. As they told Gizmodo:

Rumor: So your bricked your iPhone, what next?
Well, you can wait for the iPhone Dev Team to come up with a solution, and you know they will, they are the gods of the iPhone, I really don’t see why Apple doesn’t just put them on payroll and save us all the hassle. Or, you can lie.
