Freight full of unknown Apple devices lands in North America

So here is the deal, a mysterious shipment from Apple's factory partners has made its way to North American shores. Since the middle of March, there have been 188 containers of a product with a name that Apple has never before used when importing their devices. 3G iPhone to support HSPA+?

The 3G iPhone will be fast, especially on overseas networks where 7.2mbps HSDPA is common. Unfortunately for us in the U.S AT&T has no HSDPA faster than 3.6mbps, but 7.2mbps HSDPA is on their to do list. HSPA in its current form is tops out at 14.4mbps/5.76mbps down/up respectively. Furthermore, the highest speed most devices support is 7.2mbps. continued »

Steve Jobs confirmed for WWDC 2008: still no comment on 3G iPhone

Apple have released its plans for WWDC 2008, due to kick off on Monday June 9th. The event will open with a keynote from Steve Jobs, expected to be resplendant in a new, exciting outfit, before focussing on OS X Leopard and OS X for iPhone. There's no mention, of course, of a new 3G iPhone, although speculation continues. continued »

Where are all the iPhones?

After iPhone shortages in the UK, it's now the turn of the US to experience supply problems.  According to the online Apple store, both the 8GB and 16GB models are "Currently Unavailable".  There's no indication of whether this is merely a case of stock mis-management or a sign that a new iPhone is fast approaching. continued »

Did T-Mobile confirm the 3G iPhone for Austria?

Austrian newspaper Der Standard is saying that T-Mobile has confirmed the 3G iPhone for Austria. The report goes on to say that T-Mobile's press conference states the device will be here soon. We all knew that though didn't we? It is reported that Austria will be a test market. Meaning they will be one of the first to get their hands on the 3G version of the iPhone. continued »

AT&T to sell 3G iPhone for $199?

It seems that AT&T might be looking to make the new iPhone a little bit more affordable than the current iteration. Word on the streets is that AT&T could subsidize the new iPhone, and take up to $200 off the price of the unit. Many flocked to AT&T for the iPhone the first time, subsidized or not.
