AT&T rated worst carrier, $25 iPhone 4 at Radio Shack, Parrot AR.Drone review

Consumer Reports has rated the major wireless carriers in the US. The top rated carrier according to Consumer Reports is U.S. Cellular; AT&T was ranked the worst a full 22 points behind the leader.

Radio Shack has a deal on the iPhone 4 right now that could see some getting the smartphone for $25. The iPhone 4 is $50 off until December 11 and if you trade in a 3G or 3GS you can get more of a discount all the way down to $25 for the new device.

Sister site SlashGear reviewed the Parrot AR.Drone over the weekend and the thing is really cool. We figure the dogfight mode will be useless for most folks since finding someone with another of the devices is going to be unlikely with the high cost.

You can upgrade, if eligible through AT&T, by trading in your current 3Gs iPhone for a new iPhone 4 for only $25 (after all the discounts)! But, they also add tax. Not the sales tax of the $25 discounted iPhone, but the sales tax of the iPhone’s retail price, which is $599. That’s $58.40 (9.75% in my area). So the bottom line is that, if you’re eligible, you can get the 16GB iPhone 4, by trading in your 3Gs (in good condition), with a new two-year contract, for about $83. Still a pretty good deal. Just wish some of these news reports would mention this tax of the retail price they’re including. It’s good to know the WHOLE truth on so-called “good deals”.

How can you be eligible for a new contract if you have the 3GS??? It came out in June 2009. Add a two year contract, and the first 3GS owners’ contracts don’t expire until June 2011. Even if they can renew contracts a few months before the 2-year contract expires, the first of the 3GS contracts won’t expire for 7 months! Do I need to wait until AT&T says that I am eligible for a new contract before I can take advantage of this deal?

J- I’m not sure that you’re right. I got my iphone 3G about Christmas 2 years ago. I don’t know when my eligibility expires or the contract, but I’m willing to bet that I’m pretty damn close.

Reality is- I’m going to get a droid if this offer doesn’t work. I’m familiar with the setup on the iphone and I would prefer to switch to save time.

  4. I actually came across this site listed on Fox news earlier in the telephone section so I figured I would let you know. I made an effort to give feedback on one of your other stories twice but didn’t get it to go through.

  5. Do you have a spam problem on this blog; I also am a blogger, and I was curious about your situation; we have created some nice methods and we are looking to swap strategies with others, please shoot me an e-mail if interested.
