You don’t even need a computer anymore, just an activated iPhone and a WiFi connection. Here is exactly how hard it is, take your freshly activated 1.1.1 iPhone, and connect to a WiFi network.
Then direct Safari to jailbreakme.com and click install AppSnapp, that’s it, all, finished finito. Wait a few minutes and you will have a jailbroken iPhone with Installer installed.
Now that means that the iPhone isn’t all that secure if clicking a link at a URL can give a remote server/application root access to your iPhone to do with it what it pleases, but AppSnapp also contains a patch for the TIFF exploit that gets applied after all the jailbreaking and stuff is done. There are some recommendations though, namely that you switch to Wi-Fi (no EDGE) and that you turn off the auto-screen lock as a screen lock is the sign that this hack is finished.
So, if you are feeling extra courageous go on down to your Apple store and follow these instructions so that their display models can have their warranties voided in a move of extreme irony. No, don’t, that would be funny, but would probably also make a lot of people very angry, but if your friends have been weary of going through the whole unlock process, just let them know how easy it is now and they might be more willing.

that would be correct, you have to do the unlock separate, although with the right sources added, there are Installer.app packages out there that will do an unlock from your iPhone, without a PC
With Installer.app and this jailbreak is there a way you can file-manage the system? Mostly I want to know if I can copy ROMs on for the NES emulator.
