GooSync synchronises iPhone & Google Calendar

We’re yet to see full Exchange support for the iPhone – remember, that means calendar and contacts synchronisation as well as push-email – but if your schedule is managed by Google’s online Calendar service then you’re finally in luck.  GooSync, whose eponymous product keeps your cellphone and calendar wirelessly synchronised, have seemingly released their iPhone client early (it’s down as being expected Q1 2008), meaning you can now keep appointments and address book updated across both.

 iPhone & Google sync

GooSync comes in free and paid versions, the latter priced at £19.95 ($41) for twelve months, differentiated by how far ahead appointments are transferred to your iPhone (30 days in the free version, a year with the paid version), whether contacts can be synchronised (bidirectional sync only on the premium version) and the ability to connect your iPhone to multiple calendars.

If you already use Google Calendar then this could be ideal, particularly the ability to update while on the move.

Is it just me or is there nothing about this on the goosync website?

Yeah, this seems a bit premature, unfortunately. It’s too bad — I’ve been waiting for this for a while.

  3. I’m currently using GooSync to keep my Blackberry and Google calendar in sync OTA and it’s awesome! I’ll switch to iPhone as soon as they release the iPhone option. Not having OTA sync of calendar has been the deal breaker for me so far.

Maybe Google will release the contacts SDK soon and we can have both calendar and contacts sync OTA with the iPhone.

Why use a 3rd party server + add another outlook plugin to sync via iTunes when you can just install a direct Outlook to Google plugin and then sync your iPhone that way? It will save you a lot of configuration. OggSync (notice the different spelling) has a simpler configuration.

I have just read GooSync synchronises iPhone & Google Calendar on your website and some other posts. I am not going to remark on what everybody else has already sounded out as umpteen remarks are funny, but I do think they should input on your knowledge of the topic. My motto – People are about to read what they want to do. In the final stage, they invariably do. The optimal we can long for is to highlight a few things here and there that hopefully allows them to create an educated decision.
