Yes, it’s a logical step for jailbreakers when facing this kind of case. GV Mobile developer Sean Kovacs has ported the Voice client over to Cydia for free –although donations are gladly accepted– following Apple rejection on all Google Voice-enabled applications and Google’s official Google Voice application.
Please note that Google Voice is not a VOIP service. Basically, it’s a service that lets you manage a free phone number that Google gives you. Since the app relies on the Internet connection (3G, EDGE, Wifi, etc), so you still need an actual phone plan.
The GV Mobile features including:
- Dial numbers (domestic for free and international at a variable rate) via the iPhone’s address book or typing in on the keypad
- Send SMS messages
- Retrieve and delete recent call history
- Playback and delete voicemails
- Take calls from different phones other than your iPhone
- Add, delete, enable, or disable the phones that Google Voice forwards calls to
Google Voice is currently in beta and invite only.

Apple thoguht rejecting the app would stop google xD
I think AT&T had something to do with Apple’s decision to reject this app. I worry, and hope this won’t discourage Google from continuing to develop apps for the iphone!
GV Mobile is installed in my 3G jailbroken iPhone. I love it very much.
You need sign up for a free Google email then sign up for Google Voice. Google will send you an invitation for Google voice.
Log in your GV mobile app in your jailbroken iPhone with this username and password as you sign up with Google Voice. You would know the rest. Enjoy!!
I used jailbroken guide from http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4301
I have 3 Google Voice invites for sale .should you need it ,send mail to [email protected] thanks
Take that AT&T. installed on my 3GS and it works perfect.
Jist goes to show you that you can’t control everything.
