The white iPhone 3GS reportedly overheats during a period of using the GPS and 3G of the phone, and its case changes color. Engadget says it turns a browner and Gizmodo reports as being pink.

People that picked white want white. Will they be a recall soon. It’s up to the people, I’m sure apple is staying shut.

You’re talking about Giz and Engadget but nothing about the original source… Please specify the original img source (Watermark) http://www.nowhereelse.fr/surchauffe-iphone-3gs-21265/

Has this been reported elsewhere? This is one occurrence, is this another typical example of the media over-hyping a single or limited issue just to grab attention? Yeah I think so!

Looks like someone put the phone in the pocket of some red pants that hadn’t been washed yet…….

I bought my white 32GB iphone 3gs in the United Kingdom two days ago and today it felt hot while emailing and now has a brownish stripe running down the middle of the back. The battery charge is also showing half empty despite charging fully for the first time yesterday (after letting the original charge run out). O2 say they will swap when they get more stock. But the question is: will lots of them have this fault?

Just got my white iPhone 3GS four days ago and noticed similar discoloration, however, the brown/pink discoloration is about 1 1/4″ wide down the center. This clearly is not the same pattern as shown in the photo above, which makes me wonder if it is from the case and not overheating. (For the record, I currently use a black clamshell style case to carry my iPhone. I slide the iPhone out of the case when in use.)

I have yet to try the alcohol solution to see if the stain can be removed.

I has the same discoloration with white iphone and tried rubbing alcohol with no success. Then tried apple sauce polish and it immediately came of and looks absolutely fantastic
