We've looked at a couple of options for enjoying masses of music through your iPhone - Orb, Glide, SeeqPod and more - but Mooncat Ventures seem to be the only option if you're looking for UPnP streaming.  They also appear to be the only software venture relying on cats to do their programming, but then again we don't know what goes on behind Microsoft's closed doors.  Anyway, Mooncat have come up with an app that can select between different UPnP music servers on your home network and funnel the audio direct to your iPhone.

UPnP is a universal standard for shuttling media around a network, and several appliances designed to share audio and video around the house rely on it.  You can also get network-attached storage (NAS) devices with UPnP servers built in, storing all your audio in one place and accessing it from multiple locations.  An iPhone with the Mooncat software - together with a speaker dock - would make for a great portable media player, with potentially many times more capacity than even an 8GB phone.

Mooncat are yet to release the UPnP client as a download, but you can follow their SourceForge page here.
