Remember that article that we published yesterday about the words “my iPhone” showing up when writing an email? We managed to track down exactly where that came from.

If you go to Apple’s website and click on the iPhone tab at the top, you’ll see the Features Overview. Click on the one that says “Internet in your Pocket.” On the next screen click on “Mail” and watch carefully.
You’ll notice that each time an email is composed, the words “Sent from my iPhone” appear at the bottom of the email. It is hard to tell from just watching a video, but it looks like that phrase will in fact be at the bottom of every email sent from an iPhone. Anyone out there with an iPhone want to confirm that for me? Didn’t think so.
Vincent’s note: Nice catch Scott! I’ve embedded the video for everyone’s viewing pleasure. Pay close attention right around the 15-second mark of the video.

yeah, but Blackberry is a “real” email service. Why the heck would Apple put that on the iPhone since the iPhone is using third-party email service such as Yahoo or Gmail? It does not many any sense.
On Mac OS X, open Mail’s preferences, then go to the Signature panel. If you create a signature there, and turn it on, it will appear at the bottom of every mail message you create.
So, maybe “ Sent from my iPhone ” is just the default signature, which can be edited or removed.
It’s a status quo thing methinks. On all my handhelds, I’ve always included the appropriate signature. Sent from my Palm IIIx, Sent from my Palm V. Sent from my Dell Axim. It makes for good advertisments.
Can anyone please comment with instructions on how to remove the “sent from my iPhone” signature?
