As embarrassing as it is to admit it, I'm pretty rubbish at modern gaming. Perhaps it's my hitch-hiker's thumb, or maybe my difficulty focusing on fast-moving objects, but I do prefer a tactical, nicely-paced game rather than anything that involves jumping across moving platforms or shooting things until they explode. That's why I'm so taken with the idea of Interactive Fiction on the iPhone.

If you don't know - or have simply forgotten - Interactive Fiction is text-based gaming that relies on you exploring a new world via solely written prompts. Now there's a way to play them on your iPhone, in fact you could even think of it as typing practise!

You'll need to Jailbreak open your handset according to the usual instructions, as well as fiddle about with binaries, but when you're done you'll have a huge selection of text-based adventures that even remember where you're up to between sessions.
Happy gaming!

Very sweet! I remember playing Treasure Island (or something similar) on a Commodore 64 back in the day. What a cool, retro idea. I think I’ll have a go at it.
