@IVAN: From the looks of what you said, you probably did something to damage the iPhone, I work at [censored_company_name] and we have an Apple contract so I know how their policies work. I also worked closely with a lead tech which happened to be an Apple Tech... They don't charge 65% for no reason unless they can see the iPhone firmware or internal components were modified, and the reason both Apple and AT&T gave you the same response is I guarantee a note was made on your account. Not to mention from typing in all caps-lock you give off the impression that you are not only quite uneducated but a rude or very easily angry person... Quotes such as "I made them..." or "I laughed at them" or "I grabbed/walked out" of the store definitely shows your maturity level instead of handling it such as a mature person/customer. I have to deal with your kind all of the time, and I can tell you right now that perception deals strongly with how they will react to you. For instance, I once had a customer cuss at me for wanting to charge 15% because he brought back an opened non-defective monitor and even though it said it on the receipt he said he'd take it back to another [censored_company_name], I notified all [censored_company_name] because cussing and acting rude will get you no where. Let that be a lesson to you... "You get more with honey, than with vinegar!"

P.S. Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I don't like people that have a problem with AT&T and Apple... I pretty much swear by them, they are great companies, and throughout my work experience with them as well as being a customer with them, I've never had a problem with any of their services, or their restocking fees; like I said, the only reason they would charge 65% restocking is because the phone was probably unlocked and they could tell.

I JUST CANCELLED MY 2YR CONTRACT WITH AT&T BECAUSE I HAD A FIGHT WITH AND APPLE GENIUS AT THE APPLE STORE. HE THREATEN ME THAT IF I RETURNED THE IPHONE- AT&T WILL CHARGE ME 65% FOR RE-STOCKING FEEE. I GRAB THE IPHONE AND WALKED OUT THE STORE. I LATER WENTO THE THE AT&T STORE AND THEY SAID THAT I HAD TO PAY 65% RESTOCKING FEE. I MADE THEM GO THE THE APPLE RETURN AND REFUND WEBSITE AND TOLD THEM TO READ THE POLICY TO ME. BUT ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME 10% BECAUSE IT WAS BEFORE THE 14 DAY RETURN POLICY. I LAUGH AND WALK OUT STORE AND HAD TO CALL COSTUMER SERVICE AND CALL THE CONTRACT WITH THEM. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT AT&T AND APPLE REPRESENTIVES ARE DOING THIS TO LOYAL COSTUMERS.!!!

NOTE: I’m trying to get confirmation as to what the tipster meant by “even iTunes won’t work” with another SIM.

From what I am seeing on other posts, there is an activation fee to use the ipod features of the phone; sounds like either AT&T or Apple is trying to milk their customers for a bit more $$!
