NEWS FLASH 5/30: Straight from the the BIG man Steve Jobs himself.

Question: We'd love to write apps. Will it open up?

Steve Jobs: This is a very important tradeoff between security and openness. We want both. We've got good ideas, and sometime later this year, we can open it up to 3rd party apps, and keep security.

So what are analysts going to call the iPhone now?!

Jobs vs. Gates will no less be an historical event, and I’ll be there to cover it.

In a press release issued by Dow Jones.Com, “ Apple, Inc., CEO Steve Jobs and Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates, the seminal figures in the development of the personal computer, will make a rare joint appearance at The Wall Street Journal’s “D: All Things Digital” conference this year.

The two giants will jointly discuss the history and future of the digital revolution in an unrehearsed, unscripted, onstage conversation on May 30 with D co-producers Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher for seventy-five minutes.
