If you're looking to get your hands on an iPhone before everyone else, you might want to befriend Stan Sigman, CEO of AT&T Wireless. Apparently he's handing them out.

Well, he might have handed one out, then again he might not have. According to the video Sigman gifted one of the coveted phones to West Texas A&M president Dr . J. Patrick O'Brien during a graduation ceremony. But according to people that attended the graduation, it was merely passed around and pawed at, then returned to Sigman.

As much hype as there is surrounding the iPhone, was it really necessary to use a graduation ceremony to advertise a product? Sigman was asked to speak because he graduated from WTAMU in 1970, but I wonder if he didn't see it as a golden opportunity to show of the iPhone to a crowd full of potential customers. Sadly, his idea to get more publicity for the iPhone worked because I'm writing about it, and you're reading this.

you’re right - I’m pretty sure there will be many more “iPhone sightings” between now and launch. That being said, we’ll probably continue to cover each and everyone of them :).
