*DON’T BUY IF YOU USE THIS IN YOUR CAR*
You can’t mount the iPhone upright and hope this adapter holds in place. It falls out of the system as soon as you hit a bump in the road.

The iPod stereo adapter in my car plays iTunes through my car stereo system. The system works great with my iPod (plays the tunes and recharges the battery) but alas it does not recharge the iPhone/iTouch. This adapter makes that doable. From my perspective the Scosche adapter is worth its weight in gold. Well almost… regardless it is a good idea and a quick fix to what could be an expensive rewiring of yet another stereo adapter.

This is brilliant, it’s actually what I was looking for. I have the Metra Axxess iPod adapter to integrate my music directly into my stock headunit, allowing me to keep my original functionality in my Grand Prix. Including the Head-Up Display, steering wheel controls, and song text displayed on my unit.

It works great with my iPod and keeps it charged. But my iPhone wasn’t charging and wasn’t recognized. Everything still plays through the stereo fine.

This is exactly what I needed.

I agree with Ernie. I have my iPhone 3G hooked up with an accessory to the cd changer port of my car stereo. The sound goes from the iPhone 3G to the stereo and sounds excellent; but, the iPhone 3G will not charge because the accessory is not iPhone 3G compatible. I think this device plugs into the iPhone 3G first, and then I plug the wire from the stero into this device — and voila, now the iPhone 3G can charge.

This is an adapter for those of us that already have ipod kits in our cars that need iPhone 3G compatibility. I think they could have been a little clearer in the review.

I’ve had a Belkin goose-neck iPod-iPhone bracket/charger/FM transmitter since last May, that works wonderfully well with 2G & 3G iPhone’s.

I assume this device is also a radio transmitter so you can listen to your iPhone content on your car stereo…something the title does not state clearly. I was thinking of such a device a couple of weeks ago, and I just assumed one existed, and now it seems it does (if one didn’t exist before).

yeah pretty convienient.. even though they had to add that inconvinenience just so they can sell another overpriced product..old iphones had the headphone jack the new ones have this, its all just a money making ploy

Seriously, I have had the Griffin Power Jolt for iphone for about three months now. I smell some fowl PR going on here. Also, since when do iphone chargers (car or otherwise) not charge ipods too? Sheesh.

1st huh?? I have had my Cablejive adapter for 10 days now. That’s some good reporting there. How much did Bosch pay you?? Granted, this is cheaper than the Cablejive version, but it is not the 1st.
