From what I gathered, IMS and iChat will be on the iPhone when Leopard is released and not before then. I think there will be a lot of fresh features you’ll see with the introduction of Leopard. Leopard for iPhone and Leopard for Desktop.

I haven’t gotten that text or email yet. they original guy who got it, did he have the iPhone package or another text package. I have read other have gotten the media net packages to work on the iPhone so I’m not sure. :)

Europeans use MMS a lot. iPhone needs MMS.

More than likely, just a general non phone specific SMS. There are reports of other phones getting the same SMS– it is apparently directed at Go Phone accounts (pay as you go), letting those users know that their data package will now allow MMS type of data, no extra charge, if their phone can handle it.

As of now, iPhone is not ready for that. My vote is that it is a general message that has nothing to do with the iphone.

Well, not to pick nits, but the IM software probably WILL essentially “get there on its own” as in when an update installs (iChat?). Unless hacking, users don’t “install” apps on the iPhone.

Agree it looks a bit odd, but I would sure like this to be true as I miss MMS and am dying to see iChat on the phone!

i received the EXACT same message this morning…im thinking that maybe in the next update, it will include iChat and picture messaging capabilities
