Over at 9 to 5 Mac they’re betting a fresh croissant that Apple will be using this year’s Apple Expo, held in Paris from the 25th to the 29th of September, to launch the Euro-iPhone. Other speculation includes the introduction of video downloads on iTunes for European users – including country-specific TV shows – although it’s not yet known whether Steve Jobs will be taking to the stage (complete with beret, moustache and insouciant attitude).

A late-September announcement would give Apple a month to prepare for the predicted November 1st iPhone launch in the UK, France, Germany and possibly Spain. Controversy still reigns over which carrier will seize the all-important exclusivity contract, and whether the handset itself will be launched in an identical state to its US counterpart or if it will have been tweaked according to lessons learnt.
