New Verizon rumors, AdMob expanding iPhone ads, and new iPhone exploit

A second source for a Verizon iPhone rumor has tipped up this week from a research note from Northwest Securities that claims an iPhone for Verizon will hit by the Summer of 2010. The AT&T exclusive is set to end next year according to sources paving the way for this to happen. AT&T had better get their network woes fixed quickly or they will lose many customers if Verizon gets the iPhone.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has said that the purchase of AdMob by Google will expand the sales of ads that appear in apps for the iPhone. As an iPhone user with lots of free apps, I am not sure that is such a good thing. Ad supported apps better be good is all I am saying.

A new iPhone exploit has been spotted in the wild that is stealing user data. The new worm is using the same vulnerability that the ikee worm did on jailbroken iPhones and this time rather than changing a background image, the worm is stealing data.

That’s great… but… I hate that the iPhone’s will now be stamped with their carrier names — it’s been nice having a device without AT&T bannered over the front. Once more carriers have them, they’ll have need for carrier identification :(

  2. Just an update…recent article from Bloomberg cites release will be in January of 2011
