If you don’t follow NASCAR (don’t worry, I don’t either) you may have heard about the uproar caused when AT&T attempted to change the logo on Jeff Burton’s car from the Cingular logo to the AT&T logo. Normally that wouldn’t cause such a fuss, but NASCAR has a deal with Nextel that prevents any changes from being made with their deals with other wireless carriers.

Well, as it turned out, AT&T won their case in a U.S. District court, and they changed the logo. Now NASCAR has filed a counter suit against them for interfering with their deal with Nextel. The deal includes $100 million in damages and “NASCAR may exercise its discretion not to offer NASCAR membership to Cingular or AT&T for the 2008 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season.”

I’m really wondering if all of that is really necessary, I mean is it really hurting Nextel that they changed the logo on a car? Seriously people, can’t we all just get along?
