MYiPhone will be attending Apple’s WWDC

Our own Vincent who just got back from his trip to the D5 show has just received his confirmation that he will be attending the upcoming WWDC. So you can bet if Steve decides to announce the iPhone there, we’ll be the first to cover it.

iPhone

The show will run from June 11 to June 15 and feature an in-depth look at Leopard and over 150 different sessions and labs based around the upcoming OS.

Our confirmation of attendance to the WWDC lends a lot of credibility to thoughts and rumors that they will be announcing, if not launching the iPhone during the show. Why else would they invite the Executive Editor of an iPhone community site?

If WWDC does not yield any new iPhone news/info I’ll be shocked.

    Here’s my take…

1.) The folks at Apple feel bad for the way they treated you.
2.) At the conference they will annouce some technical details of the iPhone as well as show it off. Attendees will be given enough info to get everyone excited about the product. The iPhone though will not be generally available to the public.
3.) The actual release of the iPhone to the public will be sometime after the 25th of June.
4.) The Apple folks want to make it up to you so the invite.
5.) You will keep the MYiPhone.com name for alot of reasons, not the least of which is that you had the name before they annouced the iPhone.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Microsoft Developers Conference at Disneyland when they made available the SDK for Chicago. Man that was a lot of fun. I wish I were going to the Apple conference but it is too expensive for me at this time.

    Best wishes,
    Al

Vincent, I’m curious. Did you request the invite or did you just receive it out of the blue? If you received it out of the blue, then it truly appears to be an olive branch. Regardless, keep on keeping on doing a great job(s).

lol Vince tell then you changed the name, make him feel bad

Hey Vic, good question. It’s been a madhouse around here the last couple days – I didn’t notice that Scott had used the word “invitation” in his post. I’d actually requested an invitation to WWDC sometime back. In the past, Apple usually sends an email confirming acceptance to Macworld or WWDC. What made things different this time was the day after my brief encounter with Jobs and his two executives, I got a personal phone call from a representative at Apple. I’m not sure if it is standard practice for Apple to call every press personally to confirm attendance or not, but it seemed out of the norm. Anyways, I’ll be at WWDC, so make sure you tune into MY iTablet for live blogging on June 11, 2007!

It sounds like standard practice if invitations are to be accurately handled. Hopefully Apple won’t release the “iTablet”. That would suck. It wouldn’t be entirely unfathomable. My money’d be on the “MacTablet” name in any case. I wonder why MacRumors and AppleInsider get no trademark grief? I’m thinking its a very thin line between being a solely news outlet and soliciting product sales, reviews, etc. and being seen as an “eTailer”. I’ve written up a soup-to-nuts blog post about this whole name-game issue, that’ll I’ll be posting tomorrow.

Sounds like an olive branch to me. Thanks for the update and for keeping us informed. Some other sites are reporting that ads are already out and June 29th is the date.
