Straight out of Cupertino, an Apple spokesperson says that they are indeed working on new features for the iPhone upcoming in new firmware releases. After a long time with a non-jailbroken iPhone, people will finally be able to use new features.
Some new sleek things being rumored around are things such as a video recorder, stereo bluetooth playback, and ability send picture messages. Apple is releasing updates of new features slowly to keep users interested in the iPhone.
After seeing the iPhone's slow refresh rate on the camera, it would likely be impossible to make a video camera with a decent frame rate. Hopefully Apple does keep us updated with new technology and more things the iPhone has already been shown capable to do.

I give up waiting on speculation and rumors. Put iPhone on Ebay and bought a Nokia N95-3. By the time Apple gets around to updating these most basic of things, we will be wanting other things. I gave them 6 months and all I got was “spacebar period”. Damn shame. I really loved that phone at first.
