We now know that Apple is going to allow 3rd party applications onto the iPhone, thanks to Steve’s announcement at D5 last week. For those that doubt him, he will apparently be announcing a tool to allow developers to convert small Mac apps to work on the iPhone.

To me, “small apps” sounds more like Widgets. If this is the case, then the we’ll be seeing a whole lot of cool Widgets carried over in no time. Lets hope this little rumor is true.
We’ll know soon enough since WWDC is just around the corner. Remember to check back during the conference as we’ll be keeping you up to date with major developments as they happen.

“To those that doubt him”? As opposed to what, believing in him? Should I be apportioning some measure of faith to Steve Jobs?
Mmm. I have to agree with the naysayers. It really sounds like he’s being posed as a religious figure here. I’d have preferred, “On the heels of this news”, “Adding fire to this flame”, or “In a move that may further silence his critics”… but “for those that doubt him”? I think I’ve even heard people pronounce his name “Jobe”, his return to Apple referred to as “The Second Coming”, the new device heralded as “the Jesus Phone”, and of course, with the numerous “What Would Jobs Do” references, it really gets to be quite much. I can’t imagine anyone saying “For those that doubt him,” related to something said by Bill Gates, even though Microsoft has often embodied the very definition of vaporware.
I just want a nice phone, not a Messiah.
