1* Apple did not say this, The PcMagazine is trusted source when it comes to this.

2* Jail breaking is simply like driving without seatbelt, not yet been in an accident is no reason to declare you are forever on the super way all safe.

3* IGNORANCE ABOUT HOW SECURITY WORKS IS SEEN IN EVERY COMMENT HERE.

4* Jailbreaking cripples the modules built to make your usage SAFE
no amount of external security can help once the OS is open to vulnerability.

Why doesn’t apple join the “Jailbreaking Market” by pretending to be a “3rd party app developer/seller”?

I’m pretty sure they would end up making a lot more $ than spending it on this “War against Jailbreaking” they support so much.

They will loose against Jailbreaking and its army of 3rd party app sellers/developers…

I work in electronics sales and have sold countless iPod Touch’s so I can say with reasonable certainty I have had more experience with them then most of the people who have replied here. Jailbreaking is not illegal and it is not dangerous. The reason Apple spends so much money on their anti-jailbreaking campaign is because it leaves your device open to another app store. Simply put, they will spend millions of dollars to ensure they get total control. Thankfully they cannot control freedom of speech or there would be no need for this very obviously staged article to exist. For those who are still on the fence when considering jailbreaking consider how common that term is. Would so many people be doing it? Would it be so widespread if it is as dangerous as they claim? Of course not! Apple tried to make jailbreaking illegal as a deterrent so they could keep their market share. It failed. They still continue to void warranties for the same reason. It all comes down to money. If you agree to give your money to them and only them they will support you but the moment you find something else, possibly even better they want nothing to do with you. Now they are coming out with updates specifically designed to defeat jailbreaking. I don’t know about you but to me it seems they are digging their own grave. Time will tell.

when I jailbroke my phone it syncs other people Contacts and files whenever I download a application it is a problem that happens to iPhones jailbroken 3.1.3 and is now happening to 4.0 anyone got advise

It works all the time on the PC, why not on the iPhone

Because not enough people have the IPhone

Also you wont know if there’s malicious code on the device till it crahses, or you’ve search for it

Its about Information, so they dont wanna crash your device, they want it operable so they can access your network networks(BBP) software, which provides network connectivity and service usage.
Taking control of the BBP software would be much the equivalent of getting inside the firewall of a corporate computer

This guy is an idiot. he’s not evening running the updated iphone which has a much stabler platform when it comes to jailbreaking. even if u did fuck up u can brick it then just restore it from itunes. its not illegal because its yours and u can do whatever the fuck u want with it. It will void the warranty though. Just jailbreak it through blackra1n and ull be good.

Hi guys,
I have been thinking about getting a iPhone (I now have a itouch). But I can’t stand AT&T and don’t trust cell phone contracts (got burned and robbed ack in the early 90s). Anyway, the only way I will own an Iphone is if I can unlock it. I can here hoping to hear some realistic dangers but all the nays sound like Chicken Little. I really don’t care about games and “cool aps” I just want to use all the features of the Iphone with a contractless carrier. I feel assured that there are few dangers and being able to change the password is definitly a plus. One lingering question, will jailbreaking and unlocking an Iphone make if mode vulnerable to hackers and identity theft?

Ps. As far as legality is concerned, all I can say is : “You can get anything you want from Alice’s Restuarant.”

You guys who ’til now’ are safe from ‘jailbreaking threat’ should enjoy their time.
There are people whom I know, got some weird virus on their phone because of jailbreaking, one example was the iphone had some dude as its wallpaper and it was unchangeable, went to apple store to get it fixed, but no….. looked at the iphone for 1 mnt and realised that the phone had been unlocked, they just said “that’s why you shouldn’t unlock your phone and just gave it back to him.” So it does happen… jailbreaking is the same thing as downloading pirated applications, so go figure!

Why Jailbreak your iphone? Because you can. Just did last night. What fun it is. I think Apple had to know this would happen. Why else would Itunes have a method to backup and restore it. All about the bucks like always. Power to the people. We pay for the service and these fancy gadgets. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are gay lovers. lol.

Guys I have updated and jail broken my Iphone to 3.0 now the big question can I upgrade to 3.1 beta without problems or do I have to jail break it again if I update.. would be great if you could be as accurate as possible my is 2G 8GB Iphone cheers
