iTunes UK gets TV downloadsA common complaint in UK reviews of Apple gadgets such as the video-capable iPod and the AppleTV has been the lack of TV downloads available on iTunes.  Unlike our American compatriots there's been no catching up with Desperate Housewives or Lost unless we want to bittorrent them and mangle the format into something the Apple hardware will agree to play (and of course none of us would do that as it's illegal).  Well, Apple UK have finally listened to our pleas (or, more likely, they've ignored us and simply come to the "launch UK TV downloads" part of the roadmap) and now for a not-exactly-bargainous £1.89 ($3.81) UK users can access shows too.

The usual American fare is on there, including ABC, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, MTV, Paramount Comedy and Playhouse Disney, and there's a smattering (and literally just a smattering) of UK TV available too.  Most BBC and Channel 4 stuff is notable by its absence, but you can bet Apple's lawyers are busy buttering up whichever execs need to be, well, buttered to change that.

Complaints about the relatively high cost of downloads are already being voiced, but if there's anything that iTunes music sales have shown us it's that the British public can be merrily milked for all their worth while simultaneously complaining until they're blue in the face.

Yes as soon as I heard that TV shows where available for download in the UK I just had to rush onto iTunes and download Dora the Explorer for £1.89. If you can’t tell that was sarcasm.
