More hyped iPhone non-news.

I’m not sure what Allan was thinking of. I recently bought a new phone, and checked out all the major U.S. carrier plans. All charge both incoming and outgoing calls against your minutes. So Jajah is of no value to mobile users except for some int’l calls (I have used it for this on my Treo occasionally).

The real news would be if Apple and Cingular decided to allow real free voip (i.e., Skype) over wifi, but that would be very much out of character.

I think that Jajah has better to support thier software on other mobiles first. Their website doesn’t even work properly on Windows Mobile 3G internet. And their application isn’t compatible either.
What makes them think that it will be easier for them to support the iPhone than other mobiles?

The call termination is not VoIP, but you can call another country and treat it as a LOCAL call. The connection between the two end points is handled by Jajah…that connection is over IP.

This is bull***p, if I’m called by anyone my conversation side minutes are counted and deducted from my celular account. So, it is NOT free, not even close. unless I have a super-duper-ultra-magnunormous expensive account with gazillion minutes every month.

Well there is some confusion here. JAJAH, once initiated on-line (as on the iPhone), then calls (1) your phone [most plans have incoming calls free] and then (2) the target phone. Hence there are no charges on your cell phone.

Why would Apple make this official. Dosen’t seem that their partner Cingular/AT&T would be too happy about the ability to utilize the phone with out using their voice service. Also woudn’t Cisco be pissed that Apple went with another VOIP provider given the recent negotiations….

Yep just pr crap trying to leverage off the iphone buzz, now if someone said that Mexuar Corraleta calls worked from the iphone using the browsers java capabilities to access the voip path that would be cool.

This is non-news. JahJah works with any browser and just let’s you enter 2 phone numbers:

One of yourself and one number of the person you want to call.

Their server then calls both numbers and connects them while billing you through the JahJah system.

This is NO VOIP call, you will be called through a regular SIM card subscription on your mobile.

This works with ANY mobile or land line and ANY browser.
