iSync update supports more phones, just not the iPhone

It seems that Apple has updated its iSync software to include support for a bunch of new phones. That's great, you can't support too many phones. But looking through the list, there's one important phone that is still missing.

Yes, the iPhone still doesn't make the cut. What does that mean? Honestly, I don't really think it means anything. The iPhone isn't out yet, so why should their software list it as compatible hardware?

Apple may have let the “export to Apple TV” feature slip out in the last Quicktime update, but I think it's too early to see those kinds of things for the iPhone just yet.

  1. The iPhone probably won’t appear as a supported phone in iSync as it’s sync will be handled through iTunes – like an iPod.

  2. Sam Haren says:

Yes Steve Jobs did talk about how the iPhone would be synced by iTunes… so we shouldnt expect it to appear in iSync

  3. Melody says:

I agree with what is said above. The iPhone probably won’t be listed on the iSync list as it’s not synced with iSync but with iTunes.

However, the question remains to whether one WILL be able to sync it through iSync just via the phone’s built in Bluetooth technology and save some people some wires when they don’t need them.

iSync currently uses Bluetooth to sync the other phones such as Motorola. Whether it can do that for the iPhone when on the go, is yet to be seen.

I do imagine, however, that Apple, Inc. is going to have a lot of fun in store for the iPhone as both the iPhone and a good portion of their computers are Bluetooth compatible. I can imagine we are going to see the benefits of that kind of compatibility in a way we never saw it with the iPods.
