Everyone else is doomed. Apple will continue to eat their lunch over the next couple of years, until there's nothing else on the table.

The most provokative product I think Palm (or anyone) could offer, is some form of tablet Internet-Only device. Thin as a clipboard, large 7" touchscreen screen, somewhere around 6"x8"x0.3" in size, and completely browser-centric, with no discernable OS outside of the browser environment. It would have to cost around $150-$250, and have a whole strategy planned around it... with a snappy name like "Canvas", "Journeyman" or "Portal". GPS, Bluetooth, Java, and Opera/Firefox would seal the deal. Anything that focuses almost entirely on the web these days, has a nice display area, and goes for cheap, is a winner in my book.

The iPhone takes the prize on all but the last item, but everything in good time. If the next round of Cinema displays are Bluetooth enabled, and allowed future $200 iPhones to display mirror to them... the competition should be resigning to niche markets.

alright, I'll start off the discussion...I think the new device will sport linux os, gps, large touch-screen and it's mainly data-centric and less phone-centric and will also focus on entertainment. Perhaps something along the line of an ultra mobile device form factor. Price should be in the range of $600-800.

I know this sounds like the same stuff that's already on the market or soon to be on the market. I have to give Jeff the benefit of the doubt that he'll "Wow" me tomorrow.

Please don't let me down, because you had me at "Palm" Pilot.
