I suppose that will give Steve something to talk about the day after. So the software unlock has been confirmed by both CNN and Engadget which means it works.
The company says that it will not be selling to individuals, but you can buy licenses in bulk with the lowest number being 50 @ $32 each and the highest number being 5000 @ $25 each. They fact that they won’t sell to individuals is kind of bittersweet, on the one hand you either have to have a friend who has bought 50 or buy them yourself, but on the other hand, since they are only dealing with resellers their support for if something goes wrong will be much better, I assume.
So, if, come September 4th you have a spare $1600 lying around, feel free to go ahead and buy 50 of these licenses and disburse them at will. Just remember that it may or may not technically be legal to “sell” the licenses. The iPhoneSimFree guys also said that the current solution works with all the firmware versions, but there are no guarantees about future firmware not working with the hack. So good luck with your iPhone unlockings hopefully all of you are successful and Apple just releases their own unlocking utility kind of like what they did with the whole “run XP on a mac” thing and BootCamp.
