It’s time for mass hype and hysteria in the UK. As the iPhone is released in the UK today, people will most likely be swarming to O2 to pick up their long waited native iPhone.

The 02 carrier plans for the iPhone look to be pretty reasonable and priced a lot like AT&T’s plans (in pounds). With all plans coming with unlimited data, and then 7500 Wi-Fi hot-spots, O2 looks to have provided their customers with more than AT&T.
According to O2, the price of the 8GB iPhone is a cool £269, which is far cheaper than the iPhone in the United States. Hopefully O2 has success with the iPhone in the UK. Let’s just hope they don’t have firmware 1.1.2 pre-loaded!

You do realize that at the current exchange rate, £269 equates to $564? How do you figure that it’s “much cheaper”?

Because they make around £7 minimum wage in the UK, or so i’ve heard. You can’t compare it to USD because our dollar is extremely weak right now.
