We have gotten word that UK Apple store employees are giving out the approximate release date for the iPhone. So if you can, rush out to your local Apple store and ask. Or if the UK is a bit far to go for the latest scoop, you can read a transcript between a customer and an Apple employee.
Andy: and would you like anything else?
Me: The iPhone is available to pre-order yet is it by any chance?
Andy: (laughs) no, unfortunately. We've had great interest in it, and it'll be shipping in October in the UK according to the internal email this morning.
Me: Great! and yeah I figured you've had a lot of interest due to you adding an option to your phone store menu to enquire about "Exciting new things announced at MacWorld." His name changed & emphases added by me.
Only nine months until our friends in the UK will be able to get their hands on one. Now the big question is if Apple is going to have one dedicated carrier as in Canada and the US. We'll keep you posted!

The Apple iPhone is priced at:
$499 for the 4GB model - with a 2-year contract
$599 for the 8GB model - with a 2-year contract
NOTE: Cingular / AT&T is very clear that if you live in an area where they don't currently service directly, you will not be able to purchase an iPhone. That being said.
Also, Apple is very clear that carriers are NOT ALLOWED to subsidize the price of the phone in any way, shape or form. The $499 / $599 is the actual cost of the iPhone.

I live in Sri lanka (Asia), and I will be visiting USA this July. I’m hoping to purchase the Apple iPhone when I arrive in USA.
I would like to know if I would be able to use the iPhone in my country?

i think that would be unlikely, you’ll probably have to wait until it is released in your own country unfortunately, as will i, as some of the features are configured for use in america only at the moment, like maps. also, until the iphone is out in your country you probably won’t be able to get a priceplan for it and the u.s version is locked, i believe, as you can only buy it on AT&T over there at the moment. So some things are limited over there still as it has only just been released, so getting your iphone to make calls or text back home before it is released will likely be impossible.
but that is also not taking into account if iphone has quadband or not as that could make a difference. my suggestion would be to ask a sales representative about the issue while you are in america. hope that’s helped.

You can only can buy an iPhone when you go to USA. But the problem with that is you have to register the iPhone online. If you have activated it, then it is possible for you to take the iPhone back to your country and use it as an ordinary mobile phone.

You can buy the iPhone in the US and take it back to your country BUT you still have to use AT&T as your service provider since the iPhone has not be unlocked (as yet). So you will be paying AT&T for international roaming charges when you use it your country. Not recommended at all.

I live in Bangkok and I can buy the iphone here now. I was told it would work on any network so I assume its unlocked.
The only reservation was the price 39,000 Baht or 1,165 US dollars.

Whenever you buy cellphones in north america, It is very likely that all the phones they sell there are locked. Meaning you can only use those phones with that wireless provider. assuming that you signed up for a plan or are using pre-paid service….even though you bring it back any where across the globe and switch the SIM card. The phone will not work. I’m eager to travel back home to the philippines and purchase it there as the cellphones are unlocked over there. & hopefully much cheaper than the Canada’s release here.

the iphone that is sold in the us will work in all gsm countries such as indo and canada and all of europe
but the calling rates will be very expensive

i was wondering if the iphone would work if i brought it back to vancouver,canada. i know that iphones are sold in toronto,canada. and i just wanted to know if it would work if i bought it in toronto and used it in vancouver. ( p.s torono does not have at&t as far as im aware of.)

I live in Australia and our whole country is waiting with baited breath for that i phone. How bout telling us when we are able to order. Cause I work in a major retailer that sells Apple products and I get sick and tired of how many people ask me when the dam thing is getting here!!!
