I've been testing out iPhone OS 2.0 beta 2 for about a week. I must say that I can tell a big difference in system stability immediately after installing firmware 5A240d! There are a few minor enhancements such as being able to save images while browsing a website to searching for contacts. That being said, I'm relieved that this release fixed a lot of bugs found in beta 2.

It took the iPhone Dev Team a few days to figure out how to unlock the latest firmware 5A240d that Apple has seeded to developers. According to the iPhone Dev Team, "due to gray's initial RCE of the baseband, and combined with a neutered bootloader, unlocking recent and future basebands has been reduced to a simple byte search."

Pwnage Tool 1.1 is now available letting you unlocking, jailbreak, etc. as easy as opening iTunes and restoring the custom firmware created by you. The biggest news here is that future basebands, which used to be a burden is now "a simple byte search" to break.

One thing I want to note is that I didn't see the embedded Youtube option inside Mobile Safari or the meeting invites. Nonetheless, it's still great to be running the new firmware! Make sure to check out the image gallery below to see what's new in iPhone OS 2.0 beta 3 firmware 5A240d.

I am using firmware 1.2. I found it very difficult to add a contact while on a call. Though the screen shows Contacts and Keypad- when you click Contacts you do not get an option to add a contact ! If you go to the keypad, you can type a number ( but you do not get a Add Contact option ) and when you hang up all that you entered is gone -Other way is to Go to the Home Screen - Click the Phone icon - Keyboard , Enter the number and Use the Add Contact icon inthe left Corner.
Is there an easier way to do this ?
    Thanks

How is your battery life with this build? I have the same build and for some reason my battery life was in the toilet.
