I was in Seoul in Feb 2008. My iPhone 3 did work there, but back home I had a large bill.

I have been searching for reliable recommendations on travel tips and think that your site is a good source of information. It is difficult to locate savvy recommendations on the Internet, but I think I can put this to use! If you know of any more good suggestions, please don't hesistate to publish them. Thanks a million!

Weath that seams like a whole of a lot of trouble. I talked to my friend and he told me it was company called iphonetrip. What they do is rent iphones with unlimited data packages whether you are coming to United states or are traveling to Europe they set up Sim cards for your phone with whatever apps you need, like dictionary, travel guides, maps and so on. and for whatever country you need. i havent tried it yet but i will give it a go next time i am traveling to Europe and i need a smart phone.

That's really odd Ed. I haven't been to Australia, but when I was in Barcelona and Germany recently, my iPhone worked perfectly. Perhaps bringing it into ATT to have them check it out or get a new unit?

I went to Australia end of March of 2008 with a un-hacked iPhone (1.1.4) sadly enough my iPhone did NOT work in Sydney or Cairns. Ironically my wife's BlackBerry 8820 worked just fine - perfect signal etc. Both phones where on AT&T international plan and had data features turned off. Pretty sad that because I just turned in my BB Curve for a supposed quad phone.
